Review in More Detail

We tried out the Beats Studio 3 in different settings and situations to truly test out if it holds up to the headphone test. Here are our findings below…

Sound Quality

Beats are known for their sound quality and when you spend some time and really focus on listening to the audio that the Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones put out, you will notice that there has been a focus on the bass when it comes to design.

We noticed little things like the low frequencies have been strongly accentuated which can be great in some instances but in others is rather unfortunate. For example, when listening to some songs, you may notice that the vocals are overpowered by the sound of the bass once it’s started.

We also noticed that the audio wasn’t 100% clear and precise as we would have liked it and the highs don’t have enough weight in the audio so some songs can end up sounding rather flat.

At the end of the day, with all those small sound problems considered, the quality of the sound really does make you feel like you’re in your own little world.

Noise Reduction

Noise reduction is a must for most headphone buyers today and is quite an intelligent aspect to have. The Beats Studio 3 noise cancelling headphones analyze the environment you’re in and the sound in real-time and adapt its settings accordingly. So whether you’re at home, on an airplane, or in the park, the noise reduction management settings of the Beats Studio 3 noise cancelling will be just as effective as they need to be. When we tested it out in different environments we did notice the change in noise reduction effectiveness.

With the noise reduction of the Beats Studio 3 noise cancelling, you can clearly hear your audio, although we still do find that the highs are not pronounced as much as we would like them to be.

We also noticed that when the music stopped, you could still hear some background noise before the next song. There is still a bit of work to be done when it comes to the Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones, but overall the noise reduction capabilities are pretty good.

Comfort

The comfort of the Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones is something that we’ve actually noticed since being updated. The earpads have been redesigned to better allow pressure to be distributed more evenly around the ears. This new redesign definitely makes it a lot more comfortable, even when wearing glasses.

You can comfortably wear the headphones for hours on end and the pressure on your ears won’t change. The rubber headband liner is the only thing that can sometimes make wearing for a long period of time uncomfortable, but overall, it’s pretty comfortable.

Design

The Beats Studio headphones regardless if you purchase the 2 version or the 3 versions, they will be designed pretty much the same. The most drastic difference between the two is that there are additional features in the Beats Studio 3 version that aren’t in the version prior. Features such as a microphone being added to the headset which is a little bit above average in our opinion in terms of quality and usability.

There is a variety of colors to choose from as well including shadow gray, matte black, white, red, porcelain pink, and blue so you’re bound to find a color that matches your style. Our personal pick has to be the Beats Studio 3 Black version because we absolutely love the matte black design.

Features and Controls

The headphones come with a 3.5mm auxiliary cable and a micro-USB charging cable. This cable is not compatible with the iPhone and therefore you need to use your headphones with a Bluetooth connection instead.

On the right side of the headphones, you’ll find features such as a power button and the noise reduction set up as well. On the left side, you’ll find the classic Beats control center where you can control the audio by accepting incoming calls, rejecting calls, switching between songs, volume control, and play or pause buttons as well. It also enables the personal assistant setting to be activated as well.

There are options to plug in and connect with an audio cable and microphone. This cable also features a remote control which is great if you want to use the headphones with something that doesn’t allow Bluetooth such as watching movies on an airplane.

Comparing to Model 2

When it comes to the Beats Studio 3 Wireless review compared to the other previous models, there are a few things that have been changed, for the better.

The Beats Studio 3 Wireless has a W1 chip which allows the device to have nearly double the battery life. Studio 2 only had about 20 hours of battery life while Studio 3 now has about 40 hours. It also charges rather quickly. With just charging your headphones for 5 minutes, you can get 2 hours of uninterrupted headphone usage, no problem.

Accessories

As with all Beats headphones, the Beats Studio 3 black and all colors, comes with a sturdy circular carrying case, a USB-A charging cable, and an audio cable with a remote control.

Although the headphone case is rather large, it does a nice job of folding up your headphones and storing them in the most compact way possible.

Comparison to Other Beats Headphones

Beats Studio 3 Review: Are These Headphones Worth It? - Audio Discounters (4)

We looked at comparing the Beats Studio 3 to the Beats Solo 3, both really popular versions of Beats headphones. Beats headphones tend to get the most complaints about the level of comfort after wearing the headphones for hours on end. When comparing the two designs, we definitely feel that the Studio 3 has stepped up their game in terms of comfort and are a better option in that area.

Another way the Beats Studio 3 has a leg up is the Pure Adaptive Noise Canceling technology. The headphones are constantly monitoring the environment to ensure that you’re able to correctly hear your audio and remove as much background noise as possible.

We also noticed that with the Studio 3, the microphone was also better which makes for phone calls to go a lot smoother.

However, with the Solo 3, we noticed that they’re a bit lighter than the Studio 3 which makes it better for traveling and gym sessions. The two are fairly similar but if size isn’t the issue, it seems like the Studio 3 may be a better choice in terms of headphones.

Overall Thoughts

When it comes to a Beats Studio 3 review, our overall thoughts is that the Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones are a great all around headphone. It’s a tech-savvy headphone that allows you to quickly charge, listen to music comfortably for hours on end, and reduce background noise with the noise cancelling properties.

We really love the comfort and stability of the Bluetooth connection which is great for Apple users. The Bluetooth isn’t the easiest for Samsung users, which is a flaw for users.

We think that there are areas in which the Beats Studio 3 can definitely improve, such as when it comes to the Beats Studio 3 noise cancelling properties and sound quality. Overall though, this headphone isn’t the best on the market today, but it’s certainly a great option if you’re looking for mid-priced headphones.

We also love the color choices which a lot of Beats headphones have as well. The Beats Studio 3 black is definitely our favorite as we think it looks really sleek with the matte black design. If we were to pick, we’d definitely select the Beats Studio 3 black.

We hope that you found this Beats Studio 3 review helpful in your search for the right headphones for you.
